The best moment for teaching children to love books and to enjoy reading is when they are very young. Toddlers and preschoolers are very curious and willing to learn new things, so they are easily attracted by nice books and they even get really attached to the characters. This is one of the reasons why they ask as to read them over and over again their favorite stories and they seem to never get bored of them! ūüôā A wonderful way to keep them connected with their favorite characters but still be able to change the story and to read about various subjects is to find a book series they like! This way you will have a complete collection of stories to choose from and the child will enjoy every storytime!

If you like book series, here is a list of 8 recommendations: books that we really like and we read constantly when we go to the library! They are great book series for young children because they contain short stories and beautiful illustrations, so I’m sure that your child will love at least some of the characters on this list!

1. Llama Llama book series by Anna Dewdney

Llama Llama is a nice character that behaves exactly like a young child and the books are great for starting a conversation about sharing, having temper tantrums, feeling separation anxiety and so on. I particularly like the illustrations, they are nice and very expressive. You can find the books here.

Some of our favorite books from the series: Llama Llama I Love You, Llama Llama Time to Share

2. Caillou book series (different authors)

This book series is perfect for toddlers! The stories are short and a lot of them have something to learn at the end. Bogdan enjoys them every time you read them! You can find them here.

Some of our favorite books from the series: Caillou: No More Diapers, Caillou Puts Away His Toys

3. Clifford book series by Norman Bridwell

These books include stories about Emily Elizabeth, a cute little girl, and his dog Clifford. At the beginning, he was a tiny red puppy, but he grew a lot and now is bigger than a house. The series follows Emily and Clifford through sleepovers, starting school, holidays, and many other adventures. The books are available here.

Some of our favorite books from the series:¬†Clifford’s Manners,¬†Clifford The Big Red Dog,¬†Clifford Takes A Trip

4. Peppa Pig book series

I must admit that at the beginning I didn’t like this book series, but Bogdan was very glad to discover Peppa Pig so we started to read the books. Now, not only that we read a lot of books with Peppa Pig, but we also have some toys from her collection. ūüôā I like that some of the books come with a lesson to learn and this is really useful! You can find the books online here.

Some of our favorite books from the series:¬†Peppa’s School Day,¬†George Catches a Cold

5. Maisy book series by Lucy Cousins

Maisy is a very cute mouse who has a lot of nice friends! Each book of the series captures a different moment of the little mouse’s life. The illustrations are very colorful and joyful. You can find them online here.

Some of our favorite books from the series: Maisy Learns to Swim, Maisy Goes to Preschool, Maisy Cleans UpBook series for young children | Book series for toddlers | Book series for preschoolers

6. Spot book series by Eric Hill

The books main character is Spot, a nice and playful dog. What I like most about these books are the vibrant colors and the flip-flops (they are Bogdan’s favorites too ūüôā ). You can find the books here.

Some of our favorite books from the series: Spot Loves Bedtime, Spot Loves His Mommy, Spot Loves His Daddy

7. Curious George book series by Margret and H.A. Rey

These books are more suitable for preschoolers because the stories are too long for toddlers. The main character is a very curious monkey that gets into a lot of unexpected situations. You can find the books online here.

Some of our favorite books from the series: Curious George and the Firefighters, Curious George and the Birthday Surprise

8. Eric Carle book series

The books from the Eric Carle book series don’t have the same character in all the books, but the unique style of the illustrations make the children recognize them immediately. The books are great for babies and toddlers because the are very colorful and the illustrations are really special. You can find his books here.

Some of our favorite books from the series: The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Mister Seahorse

I hope that you liked our list and you found here some inspiration for your own collection of books! If you have any other recommendations I would be glad to find them out! March is the month dedicated to books and stories in my parenting challenge, so I could really use any additional inspiration.
