I watched today the Barack Obama’s speech about his wife and that was one of the most emotional declarations of love a president every made.

I am not into politics at all, but I have always admired him as a man how gave us a lot of life lessons during the last years. I truly believe he is one of the most inspirational presidents that America ever had and this last speech is another proof of his amazing personality.

There are a lot of things we could learn from him, but I think that 4 of them are really special.

1. To believe in our dreams

Barack Obama is a proof of the power we have when we believe in our dreams. Becoming the first African-American president surely seemed an impossible dream some time ago, but this thing never stopped him to believe this is possible and to fight for his dream.

The way he believed in this gave him the strength he needed to be able to convince everyone else that this is possible and to become one of the greatest American presidents. For me, he is one of the most powerful proofs that really believing in our dreams is the first step for making the possible!

2. Not to be afraid to show our feelings

A lot of people think that showing their feelings in front of other people is a sign of weakness. The truth is that being vulnerable and showing it is one of the greatest forms of courage.

Barack Obama wasn’t afraid to show his feelings in front of the whole world and this only made him look like a powerful and charming man! I imagine that showing your feelings when you are “the most powerful man on earth” is not easy, but he made it anyway and it was amazing!

Showing our feelings openly even if this makes us vulnerable is a proof of courage – this is a life lesson we should all learn!

3. To cherish our partners and never forget to show them this

To be so in love with your wife after 25 years of marriage is so wonderful! Hearing the words of love he said to his wife and seeing the look in his eyes when he said those words really touched a deep chord with the audience.

“Michelle – for the past twenty-five years, you’ve been not only my wife and mother of my childrenĀ but my best friend”

Every one of us deserves to feel this kind of love and most of all, we all need to learn to show this kind of love. Even if we are married and we sometimes forget to say out loud how much we love and cherish our partners!

4. To praise our kids and to let them know how loved they are

For me, this is the strongest life lesson Barack Obama taught during the last years and the one that every parent in the world needs to know.

No matter how great we become in life and how many accomplishments we have, our children are the most important thing we ever make in our life. It’s in our power to raise amazing kids if we just stand by them and help them discover by themselves how amazing they are. And most of all, it’s in our power to let them know that we love them and we are really proud of them!

“Malia and Sasha, under the strangest of circumstances, you have become two amazing young women, smart and beautiful, but more importantly, kind and thoughtful and full of passion”

“Of all that I’ve done in my life, I’m most proud to be your dad”

At the end, I just leave here the part of the farewell speech when Barack Obama addresses to his wife. If you haven’t watched it yet, it is totally worth seeing it. Above all the political accomplishments or failures, these 4 life lessons that remain after Obama’s presidential term are a great legacy that he left behind.
