My parenting challenge for 2017

When I wrote down my goals for 2017, one of them was to complete a parenting challenge. I looked for one challenge on the internet to get some inspiration, but I only found some 30-days challenges that were not really what I was looking for. I haven’t found any 12-month challenges and I was a little bit discouraged, but then I thought that I could create my own challenge and follow it throughout the year. The best part about this would be that I can create a challenge that would be appropriate for Bogdan’s age and most of all that I could share it with other parents and inspire them to improve their relationship with their kids! 🙂

The main idea of a parenting challenge is to keep me engaged to the goal of building a better relationship with my little boy and to make a better schedule for our daily activities. Each month of the year will have a main subject and we will focus on it: we will make activities, we will discover new play ideas, we will make trips and most of all we will enjoy a lot of wonderful moments together.

If you want to complete this parenting challenge I would be glad to share with you what we will do in the next 12 months and I hope you will inspire us with your ideas too! Bogdan is now 3 years old, so all the subject were designed to be appropriate for his age, but they can easily be adjusted for all ages. If your child is a preschooler you will certainly find some inspiration in our activities and I would be happy if you would join us in this challenge! 🙂

If you want to receive inspiration for this parenting challenge during the whole year you just need to subscribe to our email list and I will keep you updated! (for subscribing please enter your email address below)

Here is the plan for the next 12 months, I plan to write about this challenge every month to tell what activities we are doing and to inspire you to join us in this challenge. It’s a wonderful way for us as parents to make wonderful things with our kids and it’s for sure a great joy for the little ones. They will learn new things each month and most of all they will spend some quality time with us every day!

2017 Parenting challenge

I have created a calendar for the whole year and I will detail each topic at the beginning of the month. I hope to be able to complete this challenge and I will do my best to do so. If you want to join us, I created a new page on the blog where I will add every post related to the challenge, so you will find them easily.

January – Connection time (the fist month of the year is dedicated to building a strong connection with my child; this is something we really need at this point and it’s also the fundament for enjoying together all the other activities from the future months)

February – Art & craft (I plan to make a lot of art activities and to create some crafts together)

March – Books & stories (this month we will focus on reading stories and playing with activity books)

April – Music & dance (I plan to make some activities based on music and dance every day)

May – Nature (this month we will focus on learning about nature and making small trips in Natural Parks)

June – Outdoor play (I have chosen a warm month to be able to enjoy a lot of time spent outside playing)

July – Geography (this topic is really important for us because we travel a lot and sometimes it’s hard to explain to Bogdan all the geographical details of our journeys; this is way I plan to find some activities that will allow him to understand better our trips and all the places he visits)

August – Practical life (I plan to involve Bogdan in a lot of new practical life activities and to help him to gain more independence and to be able to complete more chores in the house)

September – Science & human body (this month will be mostly about making some science experiments and learning about the human body)

October – Dates & trips (I plan to organize some nice dates and small trips for me and Bogdan, to enjoy some special time together and to discover great new places)

November – Favorite things (this month will be dedicated to his favorite things and he will be able to choose what activities will do during the day; in November he will already know all the activities from over the year and he will choose his favorite ones)

December -Holiday time (the month will be focused on Christmas activities and on other holiday ideas, I think this could be a great way to end the year)

For dad: Adrian will also have his special parenting project during the year: a project about sports! 🙂 He will focus on showing Bogdan a lot of sports and to try to play them with him. I think this is a great way for them to spend time together and they will enjoy getting some exercise each month.

I am looking forward to starting this challenge, I really think it can make our life more wonderful and will help us to be more connected and happy every day! I can’t wait to write about our first activities!

I love this idea! I think when you schedule activities for children you make a conscious effort to go through with them and it always leaves the parent and child feeling more accomplished. I have a one year old but I think even I could change up some of these activities to suit her age.
