We love to travel, and we enjoy going on family trips. But this year we decided that we won’t go anywhere for the spring break because we don’t want to add any more big spendings to our budget.
I still wanted to find something fun for us to do during spring break so I was very happy when I discovered some great family staycation ideas. It’s the first time when we will plan a staycation, so I’m very excited to see how it will go.

1. Go on a scavenger hunt
My son loves scavenger hunt ever since he was a toddler. So he will certainly have fun with a family scavenger hunt.
If you have young kids, a color hunt or a nature scavenger hunt are great ideas to try! For older children, a photo scavenger hunt is a perfect way to have fun as a family.
2. Plan a family night every night for a week
I am a big fan of family nights because they are a great way to connect and many of them can be easily planned at home.

3. Plan a family board game tournament
This is one of our favorite family activities! Board games are fun, and kids love them!
Spending half a day playing your favorite board games will bring a lot of laughter.

4. Camp in the backyard
My son would love this! If your kids enjoy camping as well, placing a tent in the backyard is an easy way to enjoy a camping experience without spending any money.

We have a lot of nature trails close to our home, and we plan to take some time to explore them. If you have a natural park nearby, a day trip can be an awesome staycation idea!
6. Be a tourist in your city
We tried this before, and it was very fun, so we plan to repeat the experience! Look for interesting attractions in your city or a nearby city and spend a day visiting museums and other places that the whole family will love.
7. Go to a nearby amusement park
If you have any amusement parks close to your home, your kids will certainly be happy to spend a day enjoying the rides!

This is a wonderful way to teach kids to be kind and think about other people.
