Inside: This leaf print art activity is an easy and creative way to play with leaves that you can quickly prepare after a fall walk.

After creating our watercolor resist leaves a few days ago and seeing my son enjoy the activity so much, I decided to try a similar activity with him.

This time we collected leaves during our morning walk and used them for an easy and fun art activity.

It’s an idea that is suitable for many ages and can be adapted in many ways, so I wanted to share it with you, in case you want to try it with your kids!

How to prepare the leaf print art activity

This activity is very easy to set up, so you can repeat it many times during the fall months and try different ways to color the leaves.

Materials:

  • white paper
  • leaves
  • watercolor paint (you can also use markers instead of paint)
  • (optional) scissors.

Instructions:

  • Add paint on the back of a leaf. You can use several colors to get a more colorful leaf print.
  • Place the leaf with the painted side down on the paper and press it gently.
  • Remove the leaf and you’ll get a nice leaf print on the paper.

  • Repeat this step as many times as you want with the same leaf of with leaves of different shapes. Get creative and have fun!

⭐ Additional ideas:

To make the activity more interesting, invite the kids to use the leaf prints as tree shapes and create a fall landscape.

Another idea is to add more paint on top of the leaf prints and cut out the leaf shapes. We plan to use both these leaves and the watercolor resist leaves to create a fall garland.
