I always loved the design of the Montessori rooms. Although we don’t follow a Montessori education at home, we took a lot of Montessori ideas and implemented them in our home. One of the Montessori principles that were perfect for us was the design of the rooms. The main idea is that the rooms must be adapted to the child, so that he could be able to make a lot of things on his own, without parental help.
In Romania, we had Bogdan’s room designed in a Montessori way and it was perfect for him. He is a very independent boy and the fact that the room was so practical encouraged him to gain more autonomy and learn to do a lot of things without our help.
When we moved to California, I wanted to keep the same design in the house and we bought all the furniture following some Montessori room ideas. If you also like the Montessori room design, I gathered here some great ideas to inspire you to create such a space for your child.
From my experience, a Montessori room is more than just a room, it’s a place that teaches the child to have confidence in himself, to try a lot of new things on his own and to gain more independence in a playful and joyful way.
I hope you will like these ideas and I would be glad to find out your opinions. What do you think about this way of designing the rooms? Would you consider it for your house?
