Inside: This simple Valentine’s Day creation station for kids will bring hours of creative fun for your little ones! It’s one of the best Valentine’s Day activities for kids and you can prepare it quickly with just a few supplies.
In the last days, the most “popular” place in our house was our Valentine’s Day creation station.
My son came up with all kinds of ways to create cards for family and friends, and we often used the creation station together to connect and have fun.
Even our toddler enjoyed the colorful supplies and constantly “stole” the stamps from the table.
The creation station was a great opportunity for my son to use his creativity, but it also encouraged him to practice his writing skills.
If you want to try a Valentine’s Day activity that is easy to set up and can bring hours of creative fun, you’ll find here all the details you need to create a creation station for your kids.
What inspired us to create a Valentine’s Day creation station
It all started with two invitations to create that I set up for my son to inspire him to prepare Valentine cards for family and friends.
For the first one I prepared a tray with stickers, stamps, and washi tape, plus markers, envelopes and blank cards.
My son loved the idea and started creating cards for family and friends. He even wrote a special card for his little brother that looked very cute!
For the second invitation to create I just used a set of foam stickers and some paper heart cut-outs. My son also brought crayons to add messages on the hearts.
My son really enjoyed both activities, so I decided to prepare a Valentine’s Day creation station for him to use anytime he wants to create more cards (or just have fun using the supplies).
How to create a Valentine’s Day creation station for kids
A Valentine’s Day creation station is basically a collection of supplies meant to inspire kids to use their creativity.
The main idea behind creating a Valentine’s Day creation station for kids is to offer them the opportunity to get creative and have fun preparing cards for their loved ones.
Having the supplies at hand for several days will allow kids to return to the activity anytime they want, and even use the supplies for other open-ended projects.
Here is what we included in our Valentine’s Day creation station:
- blank cards (I had a few at home, but I created more using cardstock paper)
- envelopes
- stamps and stamp pad (we used a few stamps from this Butterfly and Hearts Stamp Set and this Happy Handle Stamp Set)
- washi tape
- foam stickers and felt stickers
- paper heart cutouts (we bough some from the store, but you can also easily make them at home using cardstock paper)
- glitter (and glitter glue)
- colored pencils.
You don’t need to include so many supplies to prepare a great creation station. Just a few supplies are enough to make this activity fun and interesting for your kids!
How to set up the Valentine’s Day creation station
I put all the supplies on a big tray because my son likes to move them from one room to another depending on where he wants to play.
To make the supplies more easily accessible (and visually appealing) I used a sectional tray and a few small boxes to organize everything.
My son asked me to write a list of Valentine’s Day words and phrases he wanted to use on his cards to make it easier for him to write them, so I added it to our creation station.
We enjoy using the creation station together and coming up with new ways to decorate the cards.
We already have a set of cards that we stored in a big heart-shaped bowl, and I’m pretty sure my son will create even many more cards to add to our collection.
If you are looking for a simple and creative Valentine’s Day activity to try with your kids, preparing a themed creation station for them can bring hours of fun!
I hope your kids will enjoy this idea as much as we did!
