Christmas family activities: If you want to create lovely moments to enjoy with your family during the holiday season, here is a list of easy and nice ideas you can try with your kids!

December is my favorite month of the year! I love to see the festive atmosphere all around the city, the happy kids enjoying the Christmas magic, the little gifts and cards that everyone prepares for the loved ones.

But as much as I enjoy all of these, there is something that I don’t like about the holiday season: the overwhelm that comes from that “need” to do a lot of things, to buy more stuff, to prepare fancy decorations and big tasty meals.

♥ Christmas is not about counting down the days until Christmas Eve. It’s about enjoying every one of them.

♥ Christmas is not about how many cards we write. It’s about the love we put in each of them.

♥ Christmas is not about expensive toys we give to our kids. It’s about the holiday moments we spend with them.

♥ Christmas is not about all we have in our house during the holidays. It’s about all the moments that remain in our heart afterward.

10 easy Christmas family activities to try this year

December is a great time for family activities, so we always plan a lot of activities during this month and we try to make the most of the time before Christmas.

Today I want to share with you a list of 10 lovely Christmas family activities to try during the holiday season. They are very easy to put into practice and bring a lot of fun to the little ones!

1. Reserve a special evening for decorating the Christmas tree.

Make it festive and fun! Let the children choose the decorations and then enjoy some quality family time under the lighted tree.

2. Prepare “homemade” Christmas cards for the loved ones.

You can either print some family photos and let the children personalize them with stickers, drawings or messages (depending on their age) or just make some cards from colored paper and let the children decorate them.

3. Prepare special drinks for the whole family.

You can prepare hot chocolate for children and hot apple cider or hot wine with cinnamon for the grown-ups and enjoy them together.

Use this opportunity to read a Christmas story together or look at Christmas photos from previous years.

4. Plan a family movie night.

You can watch a Christmas movie or you can even plan a Christmas movie marathon.

Here are some movie ideas, in case you need inspiration:

5. Have a daytime dance party.

Make a playlist with carols and Christmas songs and dance with your kids!

You can make your dance party even more fun by creating a special family dance and learn new moves together.

6. Encourage your kids to prepare a “Christmas art exhibition” in your home.

Creating an art exhibition at home is a great way to display handmade Christmas decorations, drawings, and other things the kids want to include in their special exhibition.

When everything is ready, you can invite some relatives or friends to admire the exhibition. The kids will certainly be very proud of themselves!

7. Get the kids involved in a charity act.

Christmas is a wonderful opportunity to teach children about generosity.

There are many ways to involve kids in a charity act: you can donate toys, bring gifts to a shelter, or donate clothes to the homeless people.

8. Plan a special cooking night.

You can find many simple recipes you can try with your little ones.

Baking cookies is my favorite choice for a family cooking night. They are easy to prepare and kids have a lot of fun decorating them!

9. Have a fun drive through the town just to watch the Christmas lights.

The whole family can wear their favorite pajamas and listen to carols during the drive to make it even more fun.

You can use this opportunity to plan a Christmas scavenger hunt as well.

10. Plan a family story night and read lovely Christmas stories.

You could also include a book about Christmas traditions around the world. It’s always fascinating for kids to find out different ways of celebrating and maybe to try some of them on their own.

If you need some inspiration, here is a list of lovely Christmas stories to read with your kids:

I love spending an evening decorating the Christmas tree as a family – although I have to resist re-hanging the decorations after they’ve gone to bed so they look better!
